The Serenity Prayer | Extended

God grant me the serenity

to accept the things I cannot change; 

courage to change the things I can; 

and wisdom to know the difference.

God grant me the humility

to remain genuine; 

The confidence to succeed;

And the faith to display them simultaneously.

God grant me the strength 

To defend the weak;

The gentleness to comfort them;

And the self control to exhibit both when needed.

God grant me the faith

To pursue you wholeheartedly;

The doubt to defend myself from lies,

And the discretion to use them appropriately.

God grant me the precision 

To create beautiful things;

The contentment to accept less than perfection;

And the wisdom to mix them well

God grant me the Zeal 

To defend you energetically;

The levelheadedness to see the truth;

And the power to use them both for your glory.

God grant me the emotion 

To sympathize with my fellow man;

The rationality to see through unreason;

And the capacity to find the truth in both.  

God grant me the peace

To not prize too highly what others think of me;

The humility to take critique; 

And the wisdom to find the balance.
